Pt. 3
Short Story T2
The air was stale and musty. The slightest taste of iron could be felt on the tongue as one would enter the strange building. Jack looked around and examined the room, looking for some type of switch to turn on the lights. Not even he could see through the pitch blackness that surrounded him like the cloak of death itself.
Meanwhile Jake looked around the alley way for any kind of back entrance to the building. The moon's ominous glow could not reach Jake's location and this made it even harder for an entrance to be found. Jake ran his hand across the wall of the building until it met a cold metal frame. He turned and looked, and what he saw was the silhouette of a door. He grasped the handle and, knowing it would be locked, he yanked real hard and was able to completely rip off the hinges of the door and let himself in.
"Greetings." Jake said with a sarcastic tone as he came walking out from the back room with his arms up.
Jack came out from behind a pillar of stone and peered through the darkness. " Good to see I'm not the only one being a nuisance."
Jake chuckled lightly before he brought his left hand down and flipped a switch turning on the lights of the building. The white marble pillars and floor emanated and reflected the bright light. Jack closed his eyes quickly, and then reopened them, his eyes no longer casting their own glow.
"What gave me away?" Jack asked.
"Well, when your eyes glow like Christmas lights in the middle of the dark. It's kind of hard not to miss you." Jake said as he shrugged and vaulted over a polished oak desk.
Jack shrugged and followed Jake to the back of the building. They stopped at a circular wall of steel. The circle came out about a foot and appeared to be full of many complicated mechanisms and locking devices. Multiple 5 inch thick bars of solid steel entered the door and kept it from moving in any way shape or form unless processed to do so.
" Ready?" Jake asked. Jack nodded and took a deep breath; the two men placed their hands in front of their chest and opened their hands. A bright glow came from a red and orange ball that was manifesting itself it between their hands. Fire.
"Here we go." The two men then slammed their foots back, in sync, and then shoved their shoulders forward and their arms flew to the door and a bright white burst of fire engulfed the small area. A loud ringing started and it was almost deafening to anyone within feet of the screeching devices.
